A member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Tony Nwoye has emerged winner of the Anambra state APC governorship primary election, Channels TV reports. According to the report, Nwoye scored 2,146 votes to defeat his nearest rival, Senator Andy Uba who got 931 votes on Sunday, August 27. Nwoye was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last governorship election in the state where he lost out.
Nwoye’s victory came despite media reports that he allegedly signed an agreement to cede 30% of Anambra state’s Internally Generated Revenue to a prominent billionaire businessman, Prince Arthur Eze. The document also indicated that there was an agreement for Prince Eze to nominate 10 commissioners in the cabinet of Nwoye.
